She’s wearing white?!? Before Easter?!?

Mar 19

I am not wearing either of the pants that are mentioned later in this post, but this is a recent pic of the Hubs and me at our friends' wedding.

That’s right, folks. I’m bucking the age-old theory that you shouldn’t wear white before Easter with my white pants today. It’s just so nice outside that I felt like pulling out the more Springish clothes. So white pants, it is. Now, let’s see how long it is before I spill something on them.

Another reason for the change in clothes is that most of my clothes don’t fit anymore. They are….wait for it….too big! What’s that you say? You’ve had to go shopping for smaller clothes? Yes, friends, I have shrunk down not just one size but two. You do not even know how excited I was when I found that out yesterday. The past couple weeks I’ve been wearing my usual clothes but with a belt. Now, I’m fine with the belt, but it’s started to get a little ridiculous. In some pants it looks like I’ve had an accident in my drawers with the bagginess I have going on in the backside area. So I ventured to the mall yesterday.

I usually do not find too many clothes at the mall. For so long I’ve been above their size threshold. It seems as though stores cut off the sizes once they reach one-eight. Yes, I still like to say my sizes one digit at a time because it sounds better. Just try it. Say it out loud. Doesn’t two-zero sound better than twenty? I’ve been in the two-zero size for a bit, and they were just hanging too loose. Since I like Gap pants, and I usually order my work pants from their website (they shun us two-zero girls to the website), I decided to head to the store. I didn’t want to order pants and have to do the whole mail them back thing. Grabbing a one-eight and a one-six in the style of black pant that I usually wear, I headed to the fitting room. First I tried on the one-eights. They fit fine, and I thought to myself, “I hate spending this on just one size lower.” So I put one leg in the one-six, thinking, “we’ll just see how much more I need to go.”

Well, guess what? They fit! I was able to button and zip and there is no muffin top! Oh yes, folks, no muffin top is crucial. I proudly handed the salesclerk back the pair of one-eights and said, “I’m keeping these.” Now, I have no idea when I last fit into a size one-six. I think it might have been back in college or right when I moved to Michigan almost 10 years ago. But baby, I’m back!

I’m still sporting some of my bigger clothes just because I don’t want to spend too much money completely revamping my wardrobe. For now, I’m making do and replacing essential items like black pants. And I’m also hoping to continue sliding down the scale and sizes. Who knows, maybe I should have kept hold of those black and white plaid pants I had back in the day.

It seems as thought I have not updated my readers (hey mom and Ellie) on my weight loss numbers in awhile. The last time I posted it, I weighed 228. I’m down to 214 as of this morning for a 14 pound loss. Thank you Paleo and Crossfit! If you’re keeping up that is down 40.8 pounds since I originally pointed the Truth Gun.

And on another note, we ran a timed mile this morning at Crossfit, and I set a personal goal of 10 minutes for myself. Yes, I’m slow and 10 minutes would be good for me. I got through the door in a cool 9:07. Oh yeah…so far this is a good Monday, even if that run was followed up by a scaled Fran. I Googled it for you.

Hi! I was looking for information on wearing white before Easter and I found your post. I thought I was reading my own story! I too have been in the process of buying a new wardrobe. I started on Weight Watchers for New Years (resolution which I promised and figured I, once again, probably wouldn’t keep up with), but after 2.5 months, I am down 21 pounds!!!!! I started at a size one-four and am now down to a ten and sometimes an 8!!! I made an appointment with a local consignment store to take all of my old clothes in… And I have been buying a new wardrobe!! I am already finding that I need to take some of the things back for smaller sizes (I haven’t taken the tags off of some of them). So, I congratulate you on your weight loss and celebrate with you!! I haven’t been this small in about 15 years. I was once a one-eight, but quit drinking alcohol 10 years ago and lost 30 pounds…then gained 10 back after I quit smoking.. I then started putting more on. I got up to about 10 pounds from where I started and decided it was time to get serious. They are now calling me the ” incredible shrinking woman” at my AA meetings!

Keep up the good work and have fun with that new wardrobe shopping! Keep in touch and let me know how you are doing. I am from Annapolis, Maryland, and I am 53 (54 in May) years old. I would love to hear about your progress!

By the way, I’m wearing white pants to work today!! Thanks for the advice!
