Handstands + Aunt Flow = Not Fun

***Warning***

TMI post coming up. I figure I have not written about that friendly little visitor in two years (since we overcame the whole infertility thing). Since I’ve left you all hanging on this topic, I think it’s time to revisit.

What is an almost 32-year-old doing handstands at 6am? Well, when it is part of the Workout of the Day (WOD) at CrossFit, you do them. After our warm-up we had 10 minutes to practice our handstands in preparation for handstand push-ups.

You see, I already was not feeling it this morning since the lovely Aunt Flow came for her visit yesterday. After getting up in the handstand a few times, I decided to hold it for as long as I could. It did not take long for all the blood to rush to my head, and after about 30 seconds I kicked back down. Let me tell you, when I’m already a little foggy when AF comes, that head rush and subsequent lightheadedness was not fun. Last time we did handstand work, I definitely did not get that feeling, so I have one more thing to blame on that beatrice.

Remember when I was tracking AF for baby making purposes? She always came at odd times. Sometimes it was 40 days, sometimes 50 and sometimes she would stay gone for 60-70 days. Not now. Now, she comes right on her 28-day schedule, and it’s been like that ever since she came back after lil’ man was born. Normally, I have it on my calendar and plan my week around her. See the only really bad day is day two of her visit, and since she is only around for three days, it’s normally not bad. I tend to skip my workout on that day two, though, but this week I forgot she was coming, and therefore, did not plan around her. Rather than having a rest day, I worked out, and that beatrice let me know she was not happy about me moving and being upside down.
